September, Nuricoco, and a Website That Needed to Come Back to Life

No matter how hard I try, my true passion — the one that has been with me for almost my entire life — has always been writing.

I remember as if it were yesterday the first diary I was given when I was ten years old. I had just arrived in New Jersey from Spain and I was scared and uncertain. I couldn’t speak English and I didn’t have any friends. That diary helped me learn to enjoy my own company. My words and thoughts became part of me, something that was always there to keep me company and show me from the inside what, sometimes, I couldn’t see from the outside.

I’ve kept diaries ever since. Many years ago, I also created this character called Nuricoco as a way of sharing out loud a kind of diary for everyone. Although I still keep my secret diaries — the ones I’ve been writing in every night since that very first one — I also continue to share a part of myself here on this blog.

These days, hardly anyone reads blogs anymore, but I’m still here because, for me, writing is therapy. And although I now mix it with videos, images, and whatever else I can think of, this space will always be mine and yours.

That’s why I decided it was time for a makeover. For the past couple of years, I’ve only written here from time to time, while the rest of the content was just sitting there gathering dust. So, since I’ve had plenty of time on my hands during these holidays, I got to work and redesigned this website, my way. I know hardly anyone sees it, but it makes me very happy. Hahahahaha.

I invite you to have a look around and discover all those little bits of shit, books, interviews, projects, blog posts and… ummm… I think that’s it. Anyway.

In the next few weeks, I’ll be launching one of those projects, and I hope you’ll join me in spreading the word and supporting the cause. That’s all I’m saying for now…

I wish you all a happy return to school, to life, and to September. For me, September has always felt like the beginning of everything. It’s when I recharge my batteries and realize that my birthday is getting closer, that I’ve completed another trip around the sun, and that I’m still fabulous. Yes, yes, I still have a few little bits of shit to sort out in my life, but I’m happy to be here, to have my health, my family, and friends who are there for me through the good and the bad.

And if you’ve made it this far, congratulations. So I know who you are, simply comment on my IG post: I’M YOUR FAN. Hahahahahaha. That way I’ll know who actually made it all the way to the end…

Until next time.
