If you’ve come this far, it’s because either you know me or you’re curious to get to know me. It doesn’t matter how you got here; what’s important is that you’ve arrived, and you can leave whenever you want.

I can tell you many things, but one thing you should know is that I like to get straight to the point. I’m straightforward and I appreciate direct people. I’m not a fan of going around in circles or long stories to convey something that can ultimately be said without many words.

Let me start by simply telling you that I’m a woman without belonging, still in search of something that isn’t there. I don’t know what it is, but I’ll keep looking.

My name is Nuria Pendás, although for many years now, around these parts of the internet, I’ve been known as Nuricoco.

I was born in Madrid, but my life has taken quite a few turns. I’ve lived in the United States for more than 25 years, spent time in New Jersey, Miami, and Los Angeles, moved back to Spain, raised two children, and worked in communications, marketing, and quite a few projects that probably had absolutely nothing to do with one another. I’m also an actress, a profession that was part of my youth and one I decided to return to after almost thirty years, just when it seemed like it was no longer the right time. I’ve always written. Sometimes to tell the story of what was happening to me, sometimes to try to understand it, and often simply because I needed to laugh about it.

But before I go any further, there’s something you should know about me: I like to get straight to the point. I’m direct, and I like direct people. Beating around the bush, endless speeches, and long stories to explain something that could have been said in two sentences aren’t really my thing. Although, strangely enough, I then go and write books.

Spanish by birth, but without much of a sense of belonging anywhere. I don’t have particularly deep roots in any one place, and perhaps that’s why I’m still looking for my place in this universe. Open-minded, curious, and a lifelong learner.

My first passion was — and still is — classical ballet. I love animals, a beer, a good wine or champagne, glamour, fashion, and living life while trying to remember that none of this lasts forever.

And, by the way, there’s no great mystery behind Nuricoco: Nuria + Coco Chanel = Nuricoco. That’s how sophisticated the creative process was.

I’m positive, cheerful, spontaneous, pretty organized, responsible when I need to be, and not easily shocked. Very few things surprise me, and even fewer offend me.

I’ve lived quite a few lives within this one. Some wonderful, others pretty damn rough. I’ve been a daughter, a mother, a caregiver, an immigrant, a divorcée, a professional, an actress, a writer… and I’m sure there are still a few more versions of me left to discover.

MY BOOKS

All those different lives have found their way into my books. I’ve written about travel, personal experiences, motherhood, the pandemic, personal growth and, more recently, my experience caring for my mother with Alzheimer’s. Some are diaries, others are true stories, and some simply began as an idea I needed to get out of my head and turn into pages.

Each one belongs to a different moment in my life and, together, they probably give you a pretty good idea of who I am: a little humor, plenty of reality, and absolutely no intention of pretending to be perfect.

Because, in the end, I write about what I live, what I think, and, very often, what happens to me.

And that’s exactly what this website is: a little catch-all drawer of my life. My books, my stories, my videos, my projects, my adventures, and all those things I keep doing because staying still has never really been my thing.

I don’t know exactly what I’ll be doing five years from now.

And I like it that way.
