2026 here I come…

My first post of 2026… let’s see if this year I’m more consistent.

Last year kicked my ass. It left me with very little defense, both physically and emotionally. And if I really think about it, I’ve spent my whole life recharging energy: the universe drains me, and I gather strength again.

I have many New Year´s resolutions prepared for this year, but I’m not going to overwhelm myself like I have in the past. What I’ve learned after many years is that the most enjoyable part of any goal is not the final result, but the micro-moments of effort along the way. Without those micro-moments, the result would feel flat.

What I mean is that having challenges is great, but what really matters is being present, in the here and now, and enjoying every step you take toward your goal. Laughing at small achievements or crying out of frustration when you feel you’re not getting there. No matter what your challenges are: have fun, let yourself go, and squeeze every second out of your life. Because if we stop to think about it, we don’t really know how much time we have—so it’s better not to leave anything for tomorrow.

Today I’m not going to tell you about my goals. I’m keeping them to myself (yes, I know, it’s not very “like me” not to tell you everything), but I want them to be a surprise and for you to enjoy the journey with me.

As you know, my life took a turn last year when my mother passed away, after six years of caring for her. My children are now grown, and for the first time I have a different kind of freedom (although I’ve always been free). I decided to move to Madrid with my boyfriend, after ten years in a long-distance relationship—it was time. I’m lucky enough to work from home and to have very flexible bosses who give me that extra freedom to occasionally sneak away for castings and shoots (not really sneaking away—I more than fulfill my work responsibilities). They’ll be among the first I thank when I’m giving my acceptance speech at the Goya Awards, the Emmys, or the Oscars.

For many people, this change feels like madness. They don’t understand why I turn down stable, high-status jobs with much higher monthly pay to pursue acting. As many say, it’s just a dream, a hobby, something that will lead nowhere; there’s too much competition, I´m too old, I don’t have enough experience or formal training. Sometimes I’m not sure whether that’s what they tell me—or what I tell myself from time to time.

And then there are those who support me unconditionally. Those who say I inspire them, that this is what I should be doing, what I’ve always been meant to do, what I’m good at, and what will eventually bring me what the past years could not.

I don’t know what 2026 or the years ahead will bring. I only know that every day I’m finding myself more, getting to know myself better. And I know that however much time I have left—one day or a hundred years—I want to spend it surrounded by family and friends, in good health, doing what truly fulfills me, without harming or offending anyone. Without fear of failure, of money, or of other people’s criticism.

For the first time in my life, I don’t doubt, I don’t hesitate, I don’t feel insecure. I dare to make the decisions I need to make, whether they’re right or wrong for me or for others. I’ve lived many years for other people—now it’s time to live for Nuria.

I encourage you to find what makes you shine and fills your stomach with butterflies. I encourage you to forget what others say, to be authentic, and above all to live moment by moment, capturing each instant of your life with the camera of your soul, saving it all to take with you beyond this life.

Happy 2026
